On Saturday, November 12, 2005 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venture Crews from Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties of Southern Florida converged on Homestead, Florida for a weekend of fun and excitement called the Scout Extreme Games.
The scouts, ranging in age from 8 to 19 enjoyed activities ranging from wall climbing and archery to the undisputed highlight of the event, Discover Scuba Diving! Zeagle was pleased to be invited by World Watersports to join them in providing this exciting program for the scouts and assist in showcasing the new Rapid Divers they are using to introduce people to the sport of scuba diving.
During the event World Watersports instructors using the new Rapid-Divers, (and some traditional BCDs and regulators) conducted 113 Discover Scuba experiences in their portable pool for the scouts, along with several snorkeling experiences and a few "cool-down" swims for overheated parents and leaders. According to the instructional staff from World Watersports, "This was our first experience using the Rapid Divers with our portable pool and Traveling Discover Scuba Program, and the response we received to the new Rapid Divers from the scouts, and their parents and unit leaders was absolutely phenomenal! Typical comments were: "These are way cool!" "Not heavy at all," "Perfect for taking on our boat," and on and on."
The photos below, show some of the Scouts waiting for their turn to use the Rapid-Divers underwater. For most if them, it was the first time breathing on a Scuba System underwater. The simplicity as well as the quick donning and removal of the Rapid-Diver made it a great experience for both the Scouts and the training staff.
After the event the staff of World Watersports commented that; "The Rapid Divers are perfect for conducting our Experience Scuba programs. The one-size-fits-all feature makes fitting kids and adults in the pool quick and easy, and since the Rapid Divers are fully configured scuba units, we don't have to carry as many BCDs, tanks and separate regulator assemblies as in the past."
